The second day’s afternoon session started with a presentation on the UN Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty by Ms. Marta Santos Pais, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Violence against Children (SRSG-VAC).
This was followed by a roundtable discussion on the issue of ‘Bringing together regional and international expertise’, moderated and with remarks by Dr. Ton Liefaard. In addition, this working group aimed to identify key gaps on children's deprivation of liberty in law, policy, and practice, taking into consideration gender and child-sensitive approaches, data and Restorative Justice, among others. Lastly, this working group considered the kind of methodologies that could be used to ensure an inclusive and participatory global process, including paying special attention to child participation.
